Imagine standing beside a dark lagoon, people laughing all around the edge of the water. Cue music. Not just any music, but the type that softly opens doors to memories and emotions. This is what "Luminous the Symphony of Us," the newest evening spectacular from EPCOT, delivers.
There are few shows as spectacular as a Disney fireworks presentation. For decades, Walt Disney World has astounded millions of guests with exceptional nighttime displays. "Luminous" understands that history and takes its place as a spectacular example of what light, sound and water can create.
"Luminous the Symphony of Us" is a celebration of human connection, the experiences that link people from every country and culture together. The themes of birth, love, friendship, and even loss are beautifully woven together with laser lights, fountains of water and firework displays punctuated with music that is both familiar and moving.
The classic tunes of "You've Got a Friend in Me" (Toy Story) and "Friend Like Me" (Aladdin) merge and are given a jazz treatment reminding you of the happiness that comes from connection with others. One of the most poignant parts of the show arrives as "You'll be in My Heart" from "Tarzan" is layered with multiple voices singing in different languages as the fireworks and laser lights are layered in the sky above the lagoon.
A sweeping arrangement of "So Close" from "Enchanted,"- a song often overlooked in the Disney catalogue - is given its due as a surprisingly moving centerpiece of this production. As the music keeps growing, the audience is drawn even further into the emotional performance with a heart-tugging rendition of "When She Loved Me," (Toy Story II) and "Into the Unknown" (Frozen II). Then, to cap off the night, "I See the Light" from "Tangled" fittingly sets the night sky a blaze with the brightest elements of the pyrotechnic display, leaving guests thrilled.
"Luminous the Symphony of Us," is another example of what Disney nighttime shows do best - create immersive and emotional storytelling experiences with light, sound and even water.
